What I believe

I think that it’s useful when reading my opinions to be aware of my basic beliefs. That way you can focus on the specific topic of discussion without having to try to infer my basic assumptions from the text.
I believe that the Bible is the revealed word of God. It is the authoritative source upon which I base my faith.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is the sole saviour of the world. People need to turn away from their sin and believe in Jesus Christ in order to have a right relationship with God. Those who do are given a new life, set free from the power and penalty of sin. We receive the gift of eternal life.
I believe that God lives among us by his Holy Spirit.
I believe in the importance of the Church as a committed body of believers for the purposes of spreading this good news, serving those around us, and building up and supporting its members in learning and understanding the ways of Jesus Christ.
Thanks to City Church Bristol website for its guidance.

Glad to hear you were baptized. A wonderful step of obedience and a public declaration of dying with Christ to the old life, being buried with Him in the waters of baptism, and rising with Him to walk in newness of life. Now to live out that baptized life daily. I don’t think it has anything to do with washing away my sins. Christ did that at the cross, right?

As you say, it is Christ’s death, in my place, that pays for my sins, not the act of Baptism.
Thanks for the encouragement!
