Eat no snacks

I shall eat no snacks for a week.
Start weight: 11 stone 12 lbs. Goal: 11 stone 3 lbs.
A graph of my weight. Current weight: 11 stone 8 lbs

[Update 30th June: Looks like it’s not going to happen without exercise and stuff. Time to get back on that stepper.]

For the last year or so, my weight has hovered around the 11 stone 6lbs mark. In the week after Miranda was born, it dipped to 11 stone 1lbs due, in part, to running up and down the stairs non-stop for 168 hours (well, it felt like that).

Well, now I’ve stopped the stair-running, I’m 11 stone 12lbs. It’s not the absolute number that I’m worried about – the government BMI calculator says I’m fine, and my maximum healthy weight would be about 13 stones (which is too high, but lets face it, they don’t know I’ve got the muscle tone of a jellyfish). What concerns me is that I’m getting heavier by about two pounds per week. That can’t go on.

On the back of an envelope, I’ve calculated that I eat between 300 and 1000 calories (i.e. kcals) of snacks per work-day, averaging at about 500. The snacks are a mixture of cereal bars, chocolate biscuit bars, chocolate-covered raisins and licorice. I haven’t included fruit in my calculations, as I intend to continue eating the same amount – just at meal-times rather than in between.

So do keep an eye on me – lets see if the de-snacking makes a difference.
