An old world pub on the coast, north of Edinburgh, with a beautiful view along the causeway to Cramond Island.
The food is reasonably priced, good quality pub fare. I ate bangers and mash, made with beef sausages from a local butchers, tasty mash and onion gravy. Lisa ate battered haddock and chips. The batter was particularly light and sparse, and the haddock beautifully moist and tasty. I had a pint of Sovereign Ale, and Lisa had a soft drink. The total bill was just under £20.
A popular pub, well worth a visit. If you get your timing right, and finish your lunch at low tide, it’s possible to walk across the causeway to the island. Alternatively, a stroll up the river Almond is very pleasant.
